Sonifex has won a Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit 2002 award at the recent NAB2002 exhibition for the updated USB version of the Courier portable flash-card recorder. The Courier’s USB B connector supports USB 1.1 and enables downloads to the PC of up to 40 times real-time speed.
The judges were readers of Broadcast Engineering magazine and working professionals in the broadcast, post, network and satellite industries. To protect the integrity of the awards, they remain anonymous throughout the judging process and Broadcast Engineering’s editor and publishers do not have a vote in the selection process.
Managing Director of Sonifex, Marcus Brooke commented “We’re delighted at receiving the award for the new version of the Courier. The BBC are using over 350 of them, so it vindicated the decision to add USB to the product. USB has made a huge improvement to the Courier’s connectivity meaning that the flashcard or hard-disk used for recording can be permanently stored in the Courier without the need for removal. Files can be quickly downloaded to a PC by USB, the disk wiped and recording started again in a fraction of the time normally needed.”
