The RB-ADDA A/D and D/A converter is a high quality but low cost converter designed for broadcast applications where audio quality and reliability is needed over an extensive feature-set. The Redbox range of products comprise of over 20 audio interfaces that are designed to be “fit and forget”, easy to use, reliable units and the digital products are all 24 bit 96kHz compatible.
Housed in a 1U rack-mount frame, the RB-ADDA produces an AES/EBU or S/PDIF level digital audio output from a balanced XLR or unbalanced phono stereo audio input and also produces a stereo balanced XLR or unbalanced phono output from an incoming AES/EBU or S/PDIF digital input signal.
The unit operates with four synchronization modes which allow for synchronization to either internal or external clocks at selectable sample rates (32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz or 96kHz), or by automatic detection.
Analogue input level controls allow a signal range from +9dBu to +27dBu and the analogue output level control allows full-scale settings selectable from +12dBu, +18dBu or +24dBu.
The output bit depth can be selected from 16, 20 or 24 bits. Inputs of a different bit depth to the output are dithered using a psychoacoustic noise filter. Channel status bits can be defined and there is a switch for de-emphasis.
