Sonifex Show New Products at NAB 2003
Sonifex are exhibiting at the NAB 2003 exhibition on stand C133 (Video Hall) and N3201 (Audio Hall) and will be showing a range of new and exciting products to add to their thriving portfolio.

On display will be the recently released HY-03, a high quality analogue telephone hybrid, with a lower price and greater feature-set than its predecessor the HY-02. The HY-03 can be used for any application where a clean telephone signal is required and the line is not subject to delay. This includes most general telephony applications, radio and TV station call-ins, entertainment venues, audio conferencing and dealing floors. Some of the features include fully automatic operation adapting to varying line conditions with automatic signal limiting, local and remote line hold switching, integrated auto-answer after a pre-determined number of rings, a balanced mic/line input, low impedance balanced output with output gain adjustment, line limiter, bandpass filter and output noise gate with preset threshold providing low distortion crystal clear audio.

There are a number of new Redboxes being launched at the NAB show which include the high performance RB-PMX4 10 input, 4 output analogue preset mixer. Each of the four outputs has a 10 way DIP switch associated with it to select which of the 10 inputs are routed to it. So by altering the DIP switches, any of the input sources can be mixed to any of the outputs. The DIP switches are enclosed by a screw-on cover on the front panel so that the settings can not be accidentally changed for secure applications. The RB-PMX4 has been designed for situations where a small mixer is needed for installations where it will be configured and then only altered occasionally, or never altered. Uses for this product are numerous including a four bus mini-mixer, a 4 zone mixer for pubs and clubs and a quad stereo to mono converter to name a few.

The RB-DAC1 digital to analogue converter, is a 1U rack-mount unit, which produces a stereo balanced XLR, or unbalanced phono output from an incoming AES/EBU or S/PDIF digital input signal. There is also a headphone output with volume control for monitoring purposes. The analogue outputs have an output level control, allowing full-scale settings selectable from +12dBu, +18dBu or +24dBu.

The RB-DMA2 dual digital microphone amplifier consists of two independent low-noise microphone pre-amplifiers for converting microphone level signals to AES/EBU or S/PDIF output. The microphone inputs are XLR-3 type and are electronically balanced. The input gain for each input can be adjusted individually by a volume control on the front panel and each has a LED indicator.

The RB-DHD6 digital 6 way headphone distribution amplifier is a 1U rack-mount which receives a digital input signal, as either AES/EBU or S/PDIF and converts it to 6 individually buffered, jack-plug, headphone outputs, each with their own volume control. The input connectors consist of a single balanced XLR-3 for the AES/EBU input and a single unbalanced phono connector for the S/PDIF input.

The RB-HD1 stereo headphone amplifier is used for driving up to two pairs of professional stereo headphones from a single stereo or mono input. One headphone socket is on the front panel with one on the rear. It also has a mono mix input, eg, for mixing in talkback to a main feed, and is VCA remotely controllable.

Also on display will be the Net-Log multi-channel network audio logger which is now supplied with an 80GB hard-disk as standard. Designed to be operated and controlled by PCs on a network, Net-Log combines the reliability of a dedicated hardware recorder with the flexibility of editing and playout over a network. It can record 4 mono, or 2 stereo, audio streams for playback using TCP/IP.

Also on display is the USB version of the Courier portable flash-card recorder. The Courier’s USB B connector supports USB 1.1 and enables downloads to the PC of up to 40 times real-time speed. The USB connection allows the flashcard or hard-disk used for recording to be permanently stored in the Courier without the need for removal. Files can be quickly downloaded to a PC by USB, the disk wiped and recording started again in a fraction of the time normally needed.
