On booth number C3526 in Central Hall 1, Sonifex are displaying four new talkback intercoms. Initially designed to interface with the S2 mixer, the desktop or rack-mount units can be used for general inter-studio talkback. There are also versions which work with the Sonifex Station Master studio switcher.
Talkback refers to the standard method of communication between broadcast studios. Each studio has either a desktop, a rack-mount, or mixer-mounted intercom, usually containing a row of switch buttons. Each switch button, when pressed, connects to another studio, and routes the presenter audio to it.
Marcus Brooke, Managing Director of Sonifex Ltd commented : "We’ve developed a number of products around our new S2 mixer in order to integrate it into radio studios. The talkback intercoms also operate with the Station Master studio switcher which, for smaller radio stations, offers excellent value for money."
The TB-6D 6 Way Talkback Intercom is used for communicating with up to 6 other locations. The user can speak to the separate locations using the onboard electret mic or a separate external mic. The unit can also monitor two external sources (balanced and unbalanced) as well as a talkback signal via the loudspeaker or headphones, which are fully adjustable with the front panel volume control. There is also a level control for the mic and talkback signals on the rear panel.
The TB-SD Station Master Talkback Intercom is used for interfacing with the Sonifex Station Master, and is similar to the 6 Way Talkback Intercom, except that the talkback routing and switching is handled by the Station Master.
